Our History

Champion Church is pleased to be the very first church plant of Mount Calvary Church in Boston, Massachusetts. The late Bishop Joseph Ely, Founder of Mount Calvary had a vision to establish 9 churches for God’s Glory. Unfortunately he passed away before he was able to witness that vision unfold.

Pastor John Marshall, current Pastor of Mount Calvary & grandson of Bishop Ely is proud to pick up the torch and run with the vision and has accepted his call not only as a Pastor but a Church Planter by committing to plant healthy Christ-Centered, Disciple-Making, Community-Impacting vibrant 21st Century churches in Massachusetts and beyond.

We believe as the first Church Plant, Champion will be poised & positioned to accomplish great exploits for the Kingdom in the City of Brockton while serving as a unique and strategic model for all future church plants of Mount Calvary Church.

LEADERSHIP

John Marshall, Lead Pastor

John Marshall is a young man with wisdom beyond his years. This multitalented man of God has been undeniably anointed & appointed to make an impact in the earth for the Kingdom for such a time as this. As a gifted musician, singer, songwriter, producer, playwright, preacher, teacher & soon to be author; God has given him the ability to effectively minister to all those he encounters crossing both multicultural and multigenerational barriers.

This man’s heart for God, His people and ministry are without question. Therefore, Pastor John seeks to see every individual in which he encounters encouraged, equipped & empowered to live the abundant life Christ intended as they fulfill their God ordained purpose in the earth.

In addition to being the Lead Planter/Pastor of Champion Church, John also serves as the Senior Pastor of Mount Calvary Church in Dorchester, Massachusetts simply known as “Calvary Boston”.
